If you find yourself disconnected from your own experience and stuck in your head, you may struggle to fully comprehend your emotions and reactions and take ownership of your life decisions.
Instead of focusing on external factors, such as other people’s thoughts or the situation at hand, it can be helpful to ask yourself a series of “WHY” questions. By doing so, you can gain deeper insight into your own feelings and identify what may be triggering certain responses.
The WHY is not about what the other person is thinking or what the situation means, the WHY is to ask the following:
– What emotion am I feeling?
– Why am I feeling this emotion?
– What is the state of my body and mind right now?
– Why does this feel so personal?
– Why does this bother me too much?
Your experience is where you gain an understanding of your own emotions and make choices about your life.
Ultimately, your power lies in your capacity to choose how you want to show up in the world, independent of external circumstances.
